One match, no matter how disappointing, cannot erase Juve's sensational achievements over the last nine months, and president Andrea Agnelli was keen to stress the point in the wake of the Champions League final in Cardiff.
“It's my task to assess the season and we're very proud of what we've done this year,” Agnelli began.
“We're proud because we've grown over the last seven years and we're now up there with the best in Europe.
“I hugged all the lads tonight. Next year we must be even more determined. Anyone who thinks we'll be lacking in motivation had better think again. Our pride will motivate us to keep growing, day after day, year after year.
“I told the players we must start afresh with the same determination as always. I'm proud of each and every one of them.”
The president also spared a thought for the people hurt in Piazza San Carlo in Turin, after a false alarm sparked panic among the crowds of fans watching the match.
“I've been informed of the incident and my thoughts go out to those who were injured on what was supposed to be a night of celebration.”
