“Hats off to Sampdoria but we can’t afford to switch off like we did after going behind. We must stay together and not rush things especially if we still have 40 minutes to turn things around.”
Massimiliano Allegri got straight to the point in his post-match analysis after watching his side fall three goals behind after a good first-half showing before nearly levelling in dramatic style later on. “The opening goal was a little odd. The ball broke kindly to them and it’s hard to comment on that. We then threw everything at them and lost our heads. That can’t happen. We have to keep reading the game and try to calmly look for an equaliser to change the complexion of the match.”
“It’s real shame because we produced one of our best first-half performances of the season,” added Allegri. “After we fell behind, we went gung-ho and were picked off. But, hey, that’s football. We’re conceding too many goals, especially on the road. We only kept a clean sheet at San Siro.”
Allegri concluded by looking ahead to two mouth-watering clashes. “The games against Barcelona and Napoli will be a different story, I’m sure. There’s been no drop off in terms of our intensity in training compared with previous years. It’s a long old season. We knew it’d be harder than it has been in the past as the opposition are more fired up than ever. We’ll be ready when the time comes though.”
