Massimiliano Allegri insists newly-crowned Italian champions Juventus will be travelling to the Stadio Bentegodi tomorrow night with their sights firmly fixed on victory.
The Tuscan tactician, who yesterday penned a fresh deal tying him to the club until June 2018, has already guided his men to a fifth consecutive Scudetto title with three Serie A games to spare, but maintains there will be no easing off as the Bianconeri bid to sign off a stellar campaign on a high.
Here is a selection of his quotes from this afternoon’s press conference:
“We want to sign off the Serie A season as best we can and then prepare for the Coppa Italia final against a fired up Milan side, who will have a Europa League spot in their sights if they’re not able to finish in sixth place.”
“Neto will start in goal. Rugani, Bonucci and Barzagli will make up the back three. In midfield, if Padoin plays out wide, Pereyra will operate just inside, otherwise Cuadrado will be the man on the wing with Sturaro tucked in. The rest of the midfield will be made up of Lemina, Asamoah and Alex Sandro. Up front? Dybala and Zaza.”
“Congratulations to Toni on his extraordinary career. I hope he doesn’t score against us, given that we’ve only conceded three in the entire second half of the season. Hats off to Luca but also to Di Natale, who has confirmed his departure from football, and Cagliari, a team I’m very fond of who are back in the top flight. Now I just need Livorno to stay up and Pescara to gain promotion for the season to be perfect.”
“The club has always assembled competitive and winning outfits and I believe this young side has a bright future ahead. The first aim of next season, other than enjoying a fine Champions League run, will be to lift our sixth consecutive Scudetto. It’s never happened before, so next year we’re gunning for legendary status.”
