During his post-match analysis, Massimiliano Allegri complimented his players on a big win coming back from behind in a difficult game. The coach also offered his analysis on a performance in which it seemed the opposition’s goal was "cursed, as the ball just did not want to go in".
LOADS OF CHANCES BEFORE CONCEDING AGAINST THE RUN OF PLAY
Even after Benevento’s shock opener at Allianz Stadium, the Juventus players managed to keep their heads.
"I’m not sure you can say we had a lapse in concentration in the first half," Allegri said. "They scored from their only shot, a free kick. Afterwards we created loads of chances and didn’t panic. We managed to turn the match on its head in the second half. Maybe at that point we opened up a bit too much on a couple of corners, thinking the match was done and dusted once we went into the lead."
PICKING OUT INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES
The Bianconeri head coach also had words of praise for some individuals in today’s line-up, starting with Alex Sandro.
"He’s an important player for us, like everyone else in the squad. He did some good things today but was a bit slow on some occasions as well. He just has to play carefully and do what he’s capable of doing.
"Paulo [Dybala] has played every game. Sometimes things go well for you, sometimes they don’t. He needs to get some fitness back and bit of that sparkle. It’ll happen when he comes back from international duty.
"Claudio [Marchisio] played well. I didn’t think he’d manage 90 minutes, but I’m very pleased with what he did."
EXCITING TIMES IN SERIE A
Following draws from both Napoli and Inter, Juventus are now just one point from top spot.
"Napoli have dropped only four points," Allegri concluded, "while we’ve dropped five, of which three were due to missed penalties on the stroke of full-time. These things can happen in football; you can’t always win 3-0, especially in matches like these.
"The league season lasts 38 games and you need to go at a steady rate of knots, avoiding too many dips in form. Napoli, Roma, Inter and Lazio are doing fantastically and will fight it out till the end. It’s a great season."
