Massimiliano Allegri says he was pleased with the Bianconeri’s overall display in this evening’s 3-1 win over Milan but believes there are still many areas in which his team can improve.
Defensive mistakes and decision making when picking out a pass lie at the top of the manager’s to-do list, which he will begin to tackle when the reigning champions return to training on Tuesday.
Reflecting on the triumph when speaking to the media, Allegri said: “It was a good performance from us tonight. We got plenty of shots in, but a good portion of the 10 goals we’ve conceded have come from giving the ball away when setting off up the pitch, such as the chance we afforded Pazzini. We need to be smarter and more alert in those instances.
“Milan put in a good performance. It’s normal to see a reaction after going a goal down. We could have done better in certain moments. When things seem easy we tend to take our foot off the gas, and we often chose the wrong pass. We were dangerous from corners but less alert when defending. With the way Pirlo takes his corners and free-kicks we should be scoring more.”
