Massimiliano Allegri has today been crowned Serie A’s best manager over the course of the 2014/15 season.
The prestigious ‘Panchina d’Oro’ accolade is voted for by all of the Italian top flight’s coaches, and this time they have recognised the scale of Allegri’s achievements in guiding Juventus to a fourth consecutive Scudetto title, a 10th Coppa Italia triumph in the club’s history and reaching last year’s Champions League final.
The Tuscan tactician won 27 out of 51 votes, ahead of Lazio’s Stefano Pioli (seven) and Napoli’s Maurizio Sarri (four), who spent the last campaign at the helm of Empoli.
In a speech at the ceremony in Coverciano, the Bianconeri boss began: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my players, whose performances on the pitch have clearly played a big part in me winning this award. I’m also very grateful to my team of assistants, the club as a whole and everyone who has voted for me.
“I work every year with my players towards improving ourselves and growing in terms of the way we play. The psychological aspect and the management of human resources are also very important. It’s no simple task getting the very best from each and every member of the squad.”
This is the second time that Allegri has lifted the ‘Panchina d’Oro’ award after he was voted Serie A’s best manager following the 2008/09 season, during which he coached Cagliari.
