The Allievi Nazionali suffered their sixth league defeat of the season, after Fiorentina triumphed 2-0 during Wednesday’s encounter in Tuscany.
Felice Tufano’s troops, who approached their game in hand having dispatched Sampdoria 3-1 in Vinovo four days earlier, bossed proceedings throughout but were mainly left to rue the result due to missed chances.
The damage was done either side of half-time, with the Viola going ahead on 32 minutes through Marco Buonavita’s strike before a Alessandro Vogliacco own goal doubled the hosts’ advantage and ultimately settled the contest five minutes after the break.
Next up for Tufano’s charges is a trip to high-flying Empoli, with the tasty domestic affair set to be played on Sunday afternoon.
