A late brace by Gonzalo Higuain and a stoppage time goal by Paulo Dybala ensured a Bianconeri victory in Bergamo as Juventus claimed a 1-3 win over Atalanta at Gewiss Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Robin Gosens opened the scoring in the second half, before Pipita and Dybala responded with goals of their own.

After the international break, the Bianconeri found themselves back on the field but without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, Adrien Rabiot, and Alex Sandro due to injuries.

BARROW MISSES PENALTY

A good chance fell to the Bianconeri in the seventh minute of action when Juan Cuadrado played a good ball to Gonzalo Higuain. He burst through the backline and chased down the ball but couldn’t get onto the end of it as Gollini rushed off the line. The Argentine was then shown a yellow card after making contact with the stopper. Atalanta were handed a penalty in the 16th minute after Sami Khedira was adjudged to have made contact with the ball in the box. Musa Barrow then stood up to take the kick, but he struck his penalty onto the crossbar to keep the scoreline level.

The Bergamaschi were coming up with some dangerous plays, and they threatened at goal once again in the 23rd minute when Pasalic nodded a header towards goal which saw Szczesny make a great fingertip save at the near post. Moments later, de Sciglio made a crucial clearance on Hateboer’s effort inside the box, while in the 26th minute, Maurizio Sarri was forced to make an early change. He introduced Ramsey into the game following an injury to Bernardeschi.

ATALANTA STRIKE

There were fears that Sarri would be forced into making a second change due to injury after Matthijs de Ligt went down after hurting his shoulder, but after being seen to by the medics, he quickly got back up. Atalanta then took the lead in the 56th minute through Robin Gosens. Barrow did all the hard work by beating his marker and filtering in a cross that saw Gosens nod it home. After going a goal down, Douglas Costa was immediately thrown into the mix when he replaced Bentancur, while Emre Can took the place of Khedira in the 69th minute.

PIPITA BRACE WINS IT

Higuain drew the game level at 1-1 when he received the ball just inside the box in the 74th minute. He brilliantly turned on the ball and struck it at goal, seeing it skip into the back of the net after taking a slight deflection. Muriel attempted to respond with a goal of his own when he shot from range down the centre of the goal, which saw Szczesny push it away from goal. The Argentine then handed the Bianconeri the lead in the 82nd minute. Cuadrado received the ball on the right side of the box; he crossed it into the path of Higuain who made no mistake in converting it past Gollini.

DYBALA STOPPAGE TIME GOAL

The scoreline was put beyond a doubt when Paulo Dybala turned the ball into the back of the net inside stoppage time. Higuain went from goalscorer to assist-maker when he played a long across the face of goal for his fellow countryman. Dybala then dribbled the ball inside the box before unleashing an effort that beat the goalkeeper at the near post to secure all three points.
