With a first Juventus appearance under his belt (coming off the bench in Juventus’ 4-2 victory over Genoa), former Boca Juniors midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur is raring to kick on in the black and white of Juventus.
Here is what the Uruguayan had to say today to the Sky cameras in Vinovo:
BENTANCUR’S BIANCONERI DEBUT
“I was a bit apprehensive at first, but ultimately delighted to have the chance to come on to the pitch against Genoa, even if I wasn’t expecting it.
“Likewise, it was a source of great pride to see my name in Juventus’ Champions League squad list. I obviously can’t wait for the first game against Barcelona. It’s exciting to be playing a big team like them, but the important thing is to enjoy the moment calm and composed.”
FROM ARGENTINA TO ITALY
“Italian football is different than in Argentina. The players here are stronger and faster. I’m now working much more on the physical side to my game compared to when I was in South America.
“As regards the tactics, I’ve played in two-man, three-man and four-man midfields. I feel more comfortable with three in the middle, but I can play in whichever way the manager demands.”
FEELS LIKE HOME HERE
“I’m very happy here in Italy. I like the overall organisation, the people, who are affectionate but also respectful, while the city is beautiful. I get on very well with everyone, even if I perhaps have a closer bond with the other South American boys.
“I’m learning Italian and I’m proud to be playing with legends like Gigi Buffon, who told me to keep calm when I came on to the pitch in Genoa, and Giorgio Chiellini, who has been full of praise for me."
CLEAR OBJECTIVES
"I've no doubts whatsoever about my aims this season: to keep working like I have been, to establish myself in the first team and to win everything possible with Juventus."
