Federico Bernardeschi was delighted with his strike to break the deadlock against SPAL but also warned against the mental lapses that the Bianconeri often seem to have.

“I’m happy that we played well and I scored a great goal,” Bernardeschi said post-match. “It’s a shame we dropped off mentally afterwards; we need to improve in this respect, as Allegri reiterates every day. We’re aware of it and we’re working on it, but it’s not enough. We’ll go through these things once again tomorrow.”

The young Italian is fully aware he needs to be patient at a club like Juventus and take his chance when it comes.

“I’m happy and I dedicate the goal to everyone who has supported me. You need to be able to wait for your turn, especially at such a big club, giving 100% in every training session and whenever you’re called upon. This is what a true professional has to do: I’m convinced that hard work pays off.”

Federico also offered his take on the period of the match that led to SPAL scoring.

“When you’re winning and playing well for half an hour, you can’t allow yourself to drop off like this. You have to manage the game, score another and kill it off, but instead we conceded to make it 2-1 through a lapse in concentration. This is our problem at the moment.

“When you let in a goal, it’s not just the fault of the defenders but the entire team. We all have to defend together as a unit. If we manage to make this little step forward, we’ll be able to really enjoy ourselves.”

Bernardeschi wrapped up with a look forward to the upcoming fixtures for the Bianconeri.

“We’ve got two massive away games, in Milan and then Lisbon. We’re really up for them.”
