Bernardeschi: "We’re ready for a great battle against Lazio"

Federico Bernardeschi has been hard at it recently, juggling important commitments both for Juventus and the Italian national team. The Bianconeri winger managed to find time to speak to Juventus TV’s Claudio Zuliani about how his development is coming along.

“I’ve got a long way to go and a lot of things to learn,” Bernardeschi explained, “but I’m happy because I feel that I’m making progress every day.”

FROM SERIE A TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The league has thrown up a pair of fixtures after the international break that could well prove an important turning point in the campaign, as Juve face Lazio while Roma play Napoli.

“It will be great to see these top teams challenging each other,” Federico continued. “It’s definitely an important weekend and we’re fully aware that Lazio are strong. They’ve set themselves big objectives and are coming into this game on the back of a good season last year. They’ve continued that form at the start of this campaign, so it will be a great battle, but we’re ready.”

There’s no let-up for the Bianconeri, as immediately following Lazio it’s Sporting Clube de Portugal in the Champions League.

“The gaffer is right: qualification from the group could well hinge on the match against the Portuguese side. It’s fantastic to compete in these matches, plus the Champions League always has something extra special about it, starting with the anthem.”

“FOOTBALL IS MY PASSION”

Finally, Bernardeschi answered with refreshing honesty when asked about how he sees his position on the pitch.

“I just love playing football,” he concluded, “regardless of the position I’m asked to play in. There’s no skill in particular I want to be able to pull off, I just take things as they come in games and do what comes naturally to me.”
