One hundred and fourteen years and counting: that’s how long Juventus have donned their iconic black and white stripes with pride thanks to a certain Tom Gordon Savage.
In 1903, Nottingham-born Savage brought the traditional colours of Notts County to Turin and, in doing so, gave rise to the Italian club’s unmistakeable identity and indeed nickname, the Bianconeri.
To commemorate the 66th anniversary of Savage’s passing, two of his descendants and a troupe of Notts County supporters visited J|Museum on Sunday with an official shirt of the English founder club and a letter signed by their president.
The event also served as an opportunity for fans of Notts County, who famously inaugurated Juventus Stadium with a friendly match following the arena’s opening ceremony in 2011, to meet and make friends with Juventus Club Doc associations hailing from Italy and London.
