Black, White, and More.

This ‘more’ is the essence of the event that Juventus organised on Tuesday, 17 December at the Allianz Stadium.

It was a very important event for the Club, because it was an opportunity to present the new ESG strategy, the new philosophy that represents what sustainability means to us. And it was significant to present it to a large audience of more than 150 stakeholders, partners and associations, as well as numerous journalists.

“We have many challenges ahead of us: those on the field are well known, but this one that we are speaking about today is one of the most important,” said Juventus Chief Executive Officer Maurizio Scanavino at the opening of the session. “We want to make the theme of social responsibility more and more visible, and encourage the entire football world to contribute in this direction.”

“Sustainability in football is something we must all start to have as a goal, in the short, medium and long term,” added Giorgio Chiellini, Head of Football Institutional Relations at Juventus. “My experience in the United States has made me notice, for example, how there is a great focus on inclusiveness there. I am proud that Juventus has embarked on this path and does not intend to stop: the more people who enter this field, the better.”

“It’s enough to look at you, here, to understand that we made the right decision. Today we are together because we want to tell you about Juventus’ commitment, and this day represents a new beginning for us,” said Greta Bodino, Chief People, Culture & Sustainability Officer of the Club. “The goal is to share our commitment in terms of social responsibility, because we are convinced that we are what we do.”

In addition to the presentation of the strategy, the event was also dedicated to a round table discussion on accessibility and inclusion, introduced by Felice Fabrizio, Juventus' People & Sustainability Manager, who spoke about the role of the Disability Access Officer. “Accessibility and inclusion are a path that we started some time ago, to make the experience at the stadium - and not only - a memorable moment for everyone, but there is still a lot we can do.”

All this took place in an afternoon also enriched by the testimonies of Tiberio Daddi (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna - ‘The environmental project with Juventus’); Stefania Urso and Carla Chiarla (Magazzini OZ - ‘The value of labour inclusion of people with disabilities’) and Marco Tealdo (Juventus One - ‘The Juventus One Paralympic project’).

WHAT WILL WE DO?

In response to the growing urgency of global challenges that require concrete action, Juventus has developed its new ESG strategy: Black, White & More, which represents the very essence of the Club, our role in society, our responsibilities and our ambitions. Juventus is Black and White, in victory and defeat, it is sport, it is the field on which we give everything in every game.

Juventus is also much more. Our impact goes beyond the confines of the playing pitch: with an international community of millions, we are aware that we have a great responsibility, but also an opportunity to contribute to a fairer and more inclusive future.

THE NEW ESG STRATEGY

‘Black, White & More’ thus tells the tale of Black and White reinforcing each other with the value of a commitment that embraces social, environmental and governance aspects, to contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future, capable of breaking down any barriers, and which aspires to involve an ever-wider audience, thanks to the involvement of all stakeholders.

‘Black, White & More’ is a powerful and clear narrative that is built on six fundamental pillars:

1. Emissions in the Corner - Pursue and consolidate our decarbonisation plan by reducing emissions through: (a) self-production of renewable energy; (b) energy efficiency; (c) promotion of sustainable fan mobility;

2. Assist to Circularity - Encourage the launch of measures to support the circular economy by: (a) reducing water consumption; (b) recovering and reusing goods and products distributed at events and club venues;

3. People First - Integrating ESG issues into the club's culture and activities, ensuring employee development, engagement and well-being;

4. Sustainable Glocal Club - Spreading the sport's founding values of fairness and teamwork both globally and locally, through selected initiatives with a high social impact on local communities and the territories covered by Juventus through various projects (e.g. Academy);

5. Fan Centrality - Creating a cohesive network where diversity, equity and inclusion unite fans, sportsmen and women and partners. The Club is committed to: (a) enhance the involvement of fan clubs and, more generally, of all its fans; (b) guarantee fans full accessibility to sports facilities;

6. Sustainable Leadership. Strengthen the Club's leadership in the area of Integrated Governance by (a) overseeing the regulatory framework; (b) by maintaining the ESG strategic plan; (c) by ensuring the (re)generation of sustainable economic value.

CONCRETE PLANS

These pillars are the guiding light for the many projects that Juventus is already pursuing in terms of social commitment, and those that it will pursue in the future: from the partnership with Save the Children, to the successes (on the field and beyond) of the Juventus One Paralympic team, from initiatives dedicated to the fight against racism and discrimination to those dedicated to mental health and issues related to gender equality.

There are many, many commitments which Juventus are involved in, and that will continue to see it as a protagonist: for this reason, we invite you to visit our renewed sustainability section in which we tell you about them all, in detail.
