Genoa have hosted Juventus a total of 55 times in the league so far. The Bianconeri have won 24 of the meetings, lost 20 and drawn 11. On this march, Juve have scored 90 goals, many by world-renowned stars, such as Roberto Baggio, showing off his skills in the background photo. Roby was one of the scorers on the day Marcello Lippi’s team collected a comfortable 4-0 success in 1994/95.
SPOT ON CR7
2021's Genoa-Juventus saw Cristiano Ronaldo keep his cool when put on the spot. The Portuguese buried two penalties for a second double in as many matches that snapped Genoa’s resilience and completed the scoring at 3-1 for the Bianconeri.
A FLASH OF GENIUS
Genoa-Juventus in the 2019/20 season was a masterpiece of outstanding goals, and it was a real shame that the public was unable to attend and witness such quality up close. The Bianconeri collected another 3-1 win. The third and final goal, the work of Douglas Costa, was the best of the bunch. The Brazilian unleashed an unstoppable shot that rocketed into the far corner.
JEWEL ON DISPLAY
Genoa-Juventus, season 2017/18, Paulo Dybala has just scored but rather than celebrate, places the ball at the centre circle. The reason? A poor start saw Juve trail by two after only a handful of minutes. La Joya shone like a jewel, and his hat-trick, boosted by another from Juan Cuadrado, turned the match on its head.
MERCURIAL MIRKO
Another comeback success arrived in season 2012/13. Making the difference after Ciro Immobile's opener was Mirko Vucinic. At his mercurial best, he played a part in each of Juve’s goals. He set up Emanuele Giaccherini's equaliser before converting a penalty for the lead. Finally, he served Kwadwo Asamoah for the goal that put the result beyond doubt.
TREZ MAKES HIS POINT
One of the most closely contested Genoa-Juventus clashes of recent times was that of season 2009/10. An already heated contest reached boiling point in the closing stages. With the hosts leading 2-1, the Bianconeri found the net through Giorgio Chiellini, but the effort was chalked off due to David Trezeguet adjudged to have been in an offside position. Not to be denied, two minutes later the same two combined. Fabio Grosso’s free-kick was headed across the face of goal by Chiellini, for Trez to add the finishing touch that earned Juve a point.
