The following campaign, season 2016/17, brought another defender with an eye for a goal to the fore. This time Giorgio Chiellini was the stand-out performer in the 4-1 win over the Ligurians, scoring twice.
MARIO'S WORLD
Appropriately, Juve made it three out of three against Sampdoria by scoring three without reply to clock up a third win on the spin in the league. Inaugurating the scoring that day was Mario Mandžukić. It was the fifth and final goal for the Croatian that season.
LEAP FOR JOY
Witnessing the trademark Cristiano Ronaldo celebration, not once but twice, sent the fans home with a Festive gift to remember before the winter break in season 2018/19. The Juve-Samp match in the Portuguese's first year in Italy saw him bag his second Serie A brace at the Allianz Stadium.
His second, from the penalty spot, restored the Bianconeri's lead after Fabio Quagliarella - again from the spot - had cancelled out CR7's opener.
FEDE ON FORM
Federico Bernardeschi shout for joy echoed around the empty stadium, played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The midfielder added the team's second goal of a 2-0 win over Samp., which was no ordinary win. The three points on the third last matchday of the season mathematically sealed the ninth straight Scudetto.
LEO'S ROAR
The 2020-21 season kicked off with Sampdoria's visit. The Bianconeri confidently overcame the outfit from Ligury with a comfortable 3-0 triumph. Leonardo Bonucci added the second goal midway through the second half.
Leo's close-range finish arrived in between Dejan Kulusevski's opener and Cristiano Ronaldo's 88th minute strike.
