Black & White Stories: Juve's record in Cup finals

Juventus holds the record for the number of Coppa Italia finals reached across all the team in Italy: with the 2024 final against Atalanta included, the Bianconeri would have now featured in 22 editions of the domestic cup showdown.

From the first one against Torino to the last one against Atalanta, below are all the 21 previous Coppa Italia finals featuring Juventus.

ALL 21 ITALY CUP FINALS PLAYED BY JUVENTUS

• 1938: The first and return legs against Torino were both won, 3-1 (goals by Bellini and De Filippis) and 2-1 (two goals by Gabetto) respectively for the clubìs first Coppa Italia crown.
• 1942: This time the opponent was AC Milan: a 1-1 draw (Bellini the scorer) was the result in the first leg in Milan, before a 4-1 victory (three goals by Lushta, one by Sentimenti V) a week later for Juve's second title.
• 1959: A once-off match at the San Siro Stadium against Inter, with the Bianconeri emerging 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Charles, Sivori and Cervato (two).
• 1960: This final was played on neutral turf, at San Siro against Fiorentina, ending in a 3-2 victory (two goals from Charles and an own goal) for Juventus and fourth Coppa Italia trophy.
• 1965: Played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Juventus earned their fifth title with a 1-0 win over Inter thanks to Menichelli's goal.
• 1973: Once again the final took place in Rome, this time against AC Milan: penalty kicks were needed to decide the winners after 1-1 draw (Bettega) in regulation time and extra time, yet it was the Rossoneri who would go on to win.
• 1979: Juventus-Palermo took place at the San Paolo Stadium in Naples: Brio netted the equaliser minutes before full-time, Causio then struck in the 117th to hand the trophy to the Bianconeri.
• 1983: The format of a two-legged tie had returned: Juve took the title that season by overturning a 2-0 defeat in Verona by winning 3-0 after extra time in Turin, Rossi and Platini netting within the 90 minutes, with the Frenchman finding the target again in extra time.

• 1990: A double-header against AC Milan saw it finish 0-0 in the first leg in Turin, but then 1-0 in favour of Bianconeri in the return leg in Milan thanks to Galia's goal.
• 1992: The opponent was Parma this time, and Juventus started well in the two-legged clash with a 1-0 home win (Baggio); however, the Crociati overturned the result at home, winning 2-0 and with it, the cup.
• 1995: Parma were again the opponents, and once again first leg was won 1-0 in Turin with Porrini on the scoresheet. This time, however, the return leg was also sweet as Porrini and Ravanelli's goals in Parma brought home the club's ninth Coppa Italia.
• 2002: A third consecutive clash with Parma in the Coppa Italia final saw the Bianocneri secure a 2-1 home win (Amoruso and Zalayeta with the goals), yet a 1-0 win for the Crociati in the second leg handed them the title on the away goals rule.
• 2004: This was the last double-header final for Juve, who faced off against Lazio, who won the first leg 2-0 before drawing 2-2 in the second, with goals from Del Piero and Trezeguet not enough for the Bianconeri to take home the trophy.
• 2012: Played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome: the winner of this final was Napoli, who won the match 2-0.

• 2015: The opponent this time round was Lazio, who took an early lead before Chiellini's almost immediate equaliser. In extra time, substitute Matri would find the back of the net, earning Juve their 10th Coppa crown. 
• 2016: Again played in Rome, AC Milan were the opponents in a match that was decided by Morata, bringing title number 11 to Turin.
• 2017: The 12th Coppa Italia trophy for Juventus was decided in the opening 24 minutes of the final as first Dani Alves and then Bonucci secured victory over Lazio.
• 2018: Utter domination in this final, as two goals from Benatia, Douglas Costa and an own goal saw the Bianconeri thump AC Milan 4-0 to earn Cup gold.

• 2020: This edition of the Coppa Italia was decided on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation time, with Napoli going on to win.
• 2021: It was Reggio Emilia that hosted the final between Atalanta and Juventus that year: the Bianconeri won 2-1 thanks to strikes from Kulusevski and Chiesa to earn a record-extending 14th Coppa Italian win.
• 2022: The final was again played in Rome with Inter the opposition: the match ended 2-2 (Alex Sandro and Vlahovic scored for the Bianconeri) in regulation time, but it was the Nerazzurri who prevailed in extra time, 4-2.
