Gigi Buffon says the Bianconeri are within a whisker of claiming a fourth successive title after this evening’s 3-2 win over Fiorentina at Juventus Stadium.
The goalkeeper conceded Juventus were given a decent run for their money by a well-drilled Viola outfit, but praised his team-mates for keeping their eye firmly on the ball with upcoming challenges against Sampdoria and Real Madrid on the horizon.
Speaking to the media directly after the full-time whistle, Buffon said: “We’re extremely close to crossing the finish line. We’ve done well up until now and even more so this evening, because it wasn’t an easy game considering what we have coming up on Saturday and especially Tuesday.”
A crucial figure behind the strong season the Bianconeri are enjoying is Massimiliano Allegri, whose managerial abilities have earned stellar approval from his captain.
He concluded: “Allegri’s been a big factor behind our season. He guides us, gives us ideas and manages the group. He inherited a strong squad, but whoever replaced Conte would have had a tough task ahead of them.”
