Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini are rewarded for their efforts last season by being named in the 2017 UEFA.com Team Of The Year. The duo were nominated for a place in the side along with fellow Bianconeri players, Alex Sandro, Miralem Pjanic and Paulo Dybala.
Online users named the Juve pair alongside other big names in the XI, with Buffon receiving 333,604 votes, and being chosen as the best goalkeeper by 41% of the users. Whilst Chiellini received 295,842 votes and was selected by 37% of users.
For Buffon this marks the fifth time he has been selected, as he previously made the team in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2016, whilst for Chiellini this is his first inclusion in the side. Previous Bianconeri to make the UEFA.com Team Of The Year are Pavel Nedved in 2003, 2004 and 2005, Andrea Pirlo in 2012, Paul Pogba in 2015 and Leonardo Bonucci in 2016.
