Now it's official: the 2022/2023 Serie A Femminile Tim calendar was announced today.
The upcoming season will be full of news, starting with the fact that it will kick off the era of professionalism in Italy. That’s not all, as this season will also be the debut season for the new tournament formula: as stated on the FIGC official website, the 10 teams participating in the top-flight will play a first phase of the season as per normal, at the end of which two groups will be formed, a Scudetto poule for the top five teams in the ranking and a salvation poule for the other five teams.
For the purposes of the second phase, the points acquired in the first phase will be maintained.
Furthermore, in compiling the calendar, the only constraint will concern the first day, in which direct clashes between the top five teams from the past season (namely Juventus, Rome, Milan, Sassuolo and Inter) cannot take place.
The Bianconere will defend their title for the fifth consecutive season, and they will kick-off the start of the campaign away to newly promoted side Como before taking on Inter and Roma at home in matchday two and three respectively.
Sassuolo will come after that, before a return home to Pomigliano. Away trips to Sampdoria and Milan will follow in October, before finishing up Phase 1 against Fiorentina and Parma.
Head Coach of Juventus Women, Joe Montemurro had this to say about the draw: “We are ready for the new season. It doesn’t matter which team we will play first - we have to play all the games. We are ready for any challenge and match that comes our way.
“Obviously, the best teams will have the opportunity to play more often and face each other. The more games that are played, the more you will see the level rise. For the players and for clubs it’s only a good thing.”
