A superb assist after a trademark darting run capped off yet another enterprising and lively performance down Juventus’ right-hand side for Juan Cuadrado ensured that once again, he had plenty to smile about as he met the media in the aftermath of Friday night’s 1-0 victory over Sassuolo.
Reflecting on his team’s efforts, the Colombian began, “We are all very pleased to have won tonight against what is a very good Sassuolo side. They played well and caused us a few problems over the 90 minutes.
“We can be proud of our performance too though, particularly at the back where we were as rock solid as ever.”
Cuadrado was also quick to single out two of his team mate’s in particular for praise; Paulo Dybala for his superb match-winning effort from Juan’s lay-off and Gianluigi Buffon for surpassing Dino Zoff’s record of 904 minutes without conceding a goal.
“I’m really happy for both Gigi and Paulo. They keep playing brilliantly, providing us with special moments to celebrate and producing the goods exactly when we need them.”
The focus for the Bianconeri can naturally now switch to the small matter of Wednesday’s decisive Champions League last 16 second-leg tie with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, a match that Juve’s wing wizard believes is more than winnable for last season’s finalists.
He concluded, “Now we have a good chance to rest up and regather our strength to make sure we head to the Allianz in the best possible condition.
“It’s a huge game for us and we don’t want to leave Germany with anything less than a positive result. It will be a very difficult encounter but we will give everything we have got to advance to the quarter-finals.”
