“Villar Perosa brings the Juve family together. Great to see Cristiano Ronaldo slot straight into the team”
John Elkann conveyed the pride felt by everyone associated with Juventus as he spoke at the latest edition of the club's annual pre-season friendly in Villar Perosa.
“This is a one-off moment, unique to Juventus, when all those who love the Bianconeri colours come together as a family,” commented the chairman of FCA and Exor.
“We meet here once again, with the younger fans that much older. It's moments like this when you see how much love there is for Juventus across Italy. I’ve met fans from Sicily and Sardinia. The affection for the team is truly wonderful.”
On the upcoming season, he added: “This is a good opportunity to celebrate what we’ve achieved, as we can see with the trophies we have here, but it’s also time to get started again. As always, we are highly ambitious because Juve are one of the most extraordinary teams in the history of world football.”
Finally, Elkann saved a few words for the scorer of the first goal today, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It’s a good sign that he scored the first goal. Now the best team in the world has the best player in the world. It’s great to see what a natural fit he is in the black-and-white shirt and how well he’s slotted into the team.
“Earlier Andrea and I said hello to him and the rest of the players, who are all coming together on the field today for the first time.”
