With domestic and European titles aplenty, Patrice Evra has seen and done it all but the Frenchman hasn’t seen many comebacks with the same spirit of this current Juventus side.
Seemingly down and out in late October, today’s 2-0 triumph at Atalanta restored the reigning champions’ three-point advantage over rivals Napoli and, combined with a run of form that has seen Juve win 17 of their last 18 matches, has Evra dreaming of a fifth consecutive league title.
Speaking after the game in Bergamo, the veteran full-back said, “After a comeback like the one we have produced this season and with a fifth league title on the spin in sight, I’ve never felt better.
“Everyone is doing their bit at the moment and showing exactly what it means to play for Juventus, something we weren’t doing at the start of the campaign. A club like this should be winning ten games in a row and more and that is exactly what we have managed to do.”
And it is that same spirit, camaraderie and togetherness that gives Patrice the utmost confidence in another famous Juventus victory in Europe with the small matter of a Champions League last 16 second-leg encounter with Bayern Munich just ten days away.
He concluded, "I believe in the squad, the staff, the fans and the club as a whole and for that reason there’s nothing to stop us going to Munich in 10 days’ time and winning. No one expected us to reach the final last year and we proved the doubters wrong.”
