The Bianconeri banished their Coppa Italia jinx away against Fiorentina in scintillating style last night with a 3-0 win that took them through to June’s final in Rome.
Prior to the semi-final return leg, Juventus were without a cup triumph in Florence, having previously recorded four defeats and three draws.
But goals from Alessandro Matri, Roberto Pereyra and Leonardo Bonucci turned March’s 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 aggregate victory, bringing an end to the Viola’s unbeaten home run in all competitions that stretched back to December.
Here are some of the main statistics from yesterday’s win:
Two
Back-to-back strikes registered by Pereyra for Juventus. After hitting Hellas Verona with goals in successive Coppa Italia and Serie A games in January, Empoli and Fiorentina have become the Argentine’s latest victims.
Three
Goals scored by Matri against Fiorentina, all coming in the black and white stripes of Juventus. Two of these were hit in Serie A.
Six
Tackles won by Arturo Vidal during a typically combative display in the middle of the park, just under a third of the Bianconeri’s total figure of 20.
12
Claudio Marchisio recoveries on a solid return to action for the midfielder. He also created four opportunities for his team-mates.
86
Minutes it took for Fiorentina to register their first shot on target, a clear indication of the Bianconeri’s brittle performance at a notoriously tough venue.
