14 games played, 12 wins and only one defeat: this is the story of Arsenal's season so far that has seen them reach first place in the English Premier League.
37 points, the result of 33 goals scored and only 11 conceded, with big victories claimed, such as away against Chelsea in a London derby on 6th November, thanks to the decisive goal by Gabriel Magalhaes.
An average of 2.36 goals per match, a total of seven clean sheets, 222 shots in total, 519.79 passes per match with an average accuracy of 86% (from Premier League data) make the London team the best in terms of quality of play and league results so far. Captain, Martin Ødegaard is the team's top scorer with six goals, but there are no less than 10 Gunners who have gotten on the scoresheet this season, confirming great team work.
EUROPA LEAGUE
Arsenal are also first in their Europa League group with 15 points (5 wins and one defeat), finishing above PSV Eindhoven, Bodo Glimt and FC Zurich. Now, they await the winners of the playoffs in the Round of 16 draw (in which Juve will also be involved against Nantes).
PREVIOUSLY ON ARSENAL-JUVE...
The Bianconeri and Gunners haven't met in an official match since 2006. Going back there have been two previous matches in the Cup Winners' Cup (1980, in the semifinals: 1-1 draw at Highbury and Arsenal won the second leg in Turin 1-0). Four matches in the Champions League, in the 2001/02 season (second group stage, 3-1 to Arsenal in London, 1-0 to Juve in Turin). And then there was the last encounter in 2005/06 in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, Juve lost 2-0 in London and was unable to overturn the defeat in the second leg, with a goalless draw. The last meeting between the two sides was in fact in a friendly match at the Emirates Stadium in the 2008/09 pre-season, in which Juve won 1-0 in the Emirates Cup thanks to a David Trezeguet goal.
