Martin Caceres has had a superb week.
After seeing his header ricochet off Cristiano Biraghi to ensure the Bianconeri came away from Verona with all three points on Saturday, the Uruguayan also became a father for the second time when his wife Natalia gave birth to a son.
Yesterday saw him return to the pitch after this week’s exertions and an excellent seven days for the defender ended the same way as it began: with a win.
The 27-year-old’s Uruguay side were in action in Tokyo where they faced Japan in an international friendly with La Celeste running out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Edinson Cavani and Abel Hernandez.
Caceres started and was replaced on 85 minutes after helping his side to keep a clean sheet with an impressive defensive display.
Tonight it’s the turn of Kwadwo Asamoah and four-time African Cup of Nations winners Ghana who will be hoping to get their qualifying campaign for the 2015 tournament in Morocco off to a winning start when they face Uganda in Kumasi at 18.00 CET.
