With Juventus Women having landed and settled in Louisville, Kentucky, the Bianconere are ready to begin The Women’s Cup with their semi-final against Chilean side Colo-Colo.
Ahead of the semi-final, Coach Massimiliano Canzi and Captain Sara Gama spoke, and below is what they had to say.
“We’re following a path, and this tournament gives us a chance to continue along it and toward our goal, and toward the point we want to reach," Canzi said.
“It’s an important test for us up against good teams from around the world. It’s a huge opportunity and one that we’ll look to make the very most of.”
Sara Gama then shared her thoughts.
“It’s great to be here,” said Gama. “It’s a huge opportunity for us. I started with Juventus in 2017, and this is our first time coming to the United States to take part in such an important tournament with teams from outside of Europe.
“We have a new coach, we’ve changed a lot of players, and it’s a good way to test where we are.
“We got here yesterday [speaking on Wednesday night Italian time], trained this morning, and it went well. We saw some photos of the stadium and we’re looking forward to playing there.
“Our first game is against Colo-Colo from Chile, and I don’t think I’ve ever played against any Chilean side, even with the national team. It’ll be a great experience, we’ve seen videos of Colo-Colo and they’re a very technical side who like to keep the ball.
“We also want to play, we like to go direct and use our physical strength, it’ll be an interesting game.”
