The Giovanissimi Nazionali took a decisive step towards last four qualification yesterday evening by registering a 1-0 opening victory over Sampdoria.
A tense encounter at San Quirico d’Orcia was eventually decided by a solitary Sampdoria own-goal in the second half. The success saw Claudio Gabetta’s boys climb to the top of Group B along with Padova, who ran out 2-1 winners over Inter.
There will be no respite whatsoever for Juventus as they are once again in action this evening (5.30pm) against Inter at Ponte a Tressa.
