Juventus could hardly have got off to a better start to 2024 on the pitch, with the team racking up four wins from four and 15 goals in the process – more than any other team in Europe.
Off the pitch, there is success too as Cristiano Giuntoli has been named Best Sporting Director of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. Our Football Director earned the prestigious gong for helping Napoli win the Scudetto and the excellent work carried out in his first six months at Juventus.
GIUNTOLI'S COMMENTS
“I’m very proud to be here at the Globe Soccer Awards,” Giuntoli said upon receiving his prize. “However, it’s not right to talk about ‘me’ but ‘us’, because if I’m here today it’s thanks to the excellent team work that’s been done.
“2023 was a very positive year for me especially and was divided in two. Last season we achieved something fantastic in winning the title with Napoli while 2023/24 has been the start of a new adventure for me at Juventus.
“If I’m in contention for this award, I must thank all the assistants, coaches and players I’ve worked with over the years at Napoli and during these first few months at Juventus.
“I’ve been welcomed in Turin by an incredible group of people. In the first half of the season we’ve all done a fantastic job. We’re showing faith in youth and they’re doing really well. We just need to keep it up.
“There’s a lot of ambition here at Juventus and our target is clear: to return to Champions League football next season. That’s our focus because playing on the European stage would help us develop lots of young players who are proving their worth.”
