Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Fresh from his show-stopping brace on Saturday in Milan, Gonzalo Higuain came up with the goods once again tonight in Lisbon.
“I’m happy with the goal,” opened Pipita. “I always try to help the team as best I can.”
After trailing for an hour on Tuesday night, Higuain admitted that this was certainly a case of a point gained, rather than two lost, as the Bianconeri preserved their three-point cushion over their Portuguese rivals in Champions League Group D.
“Tonight was a tough match: Sporting came out of the traps very quickly and made life difficult for us, so this is an important point for us, gained in difficult conditions.
“It was essential to not lose here, and now we’ve kept that breathing room between us and them with two games left to play.”
