Primavera coach Fabio Grosso says the Bianconeri will be looking to maintain the current feel-good factor in the camp when they welcome league leaders Fiorentina to Piedmont on Sunday morning.

Four successive wins have propelled the Juventus youngsters to within seven points of the Viola and Grosso is hoping to exorcise the demons of this season’s first meeting by claiming a positive result from the encounter.

Previewing the clash with Jtv, the 37-year-old began: “We approach the game on the back of some positive results and we want this run to continue for as long as possible. When the performances are there, the results eventually follow suit. We’re happy, working well and improving a great deal.”

“In our first meeting with Fiorentina we put in one of our best performances of the first half of the season, only to leave empty handed. I hope we’re able to show the same kind of display, if not better, and come away with something this time around.”

The Primavera coach then went on to express his sympathy for midfielder Federico Mattiello, who suffered a broken leg whilst playing for loan club Chievo against Roma on Sunday afternoon.

Grosso, however, remains positive that the talented youngster has it in him to work his way back to the top level, believing his natural qualities will see him grace the big stage for many years to come.

“I was extremely sad to see what happened to Federico. Many youngsters who lived with him at the academy accommodation were really shaken up by it. He’s a lad with enormous quality, and the injury happened at a time when he could have demonstrated his abilities on the big stage.

“Nevertheless, I’m convinced that he’ll get back to the top level. He’ll need a fair bit of time to get over this nasty injury, but he’s got what it takes to make the grade.”
