After having featured in goal against Spal yesterday, Gianluigi Buffon has another reason to celebrate… he is turning 43! Once again, he celebrates turning a year older in the colours of Juventus – a team he has dedicated his football career to for the better part of 19 years.
During these years, he has proven to be a pillar and a leader between the posts (as well as off the field), pulling off decisive saves and commanding his team from the back to achieve many victories. At Juventus alone, he has won two dozen trophies.
Buffon, who holds the record for the most appearances in Serie A by any one player, is the epitome of the saying “age is just a number”, as time and time again, he has proven to still be capable of deciding the outcome of a match. It’s because of this eternal ability that Gigi has fittingly earned the nickname “Superman”, and it once again proved vital as he helped guide Juventus to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia this evening.
For Gigi, we wish you many more years and the happiest of birthdays!
