05 June 2022
Italy’s debut in the Nations League ended in a 1-1 draw with Germany. Neither of the Bianconeri players remaining in Roberto Mancini's squad, Leonardo Bonucci or Manuel Locatelli, were involved in the match played at the Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna. The goals came in the space of three second-half minutes. Italy took the lead through Lorenzo Pellegrini, only for Joshua Kimmich to equalise. However, the single point allowed the Azzurri to position themselves ahead of England, defeated 1-0 by Hungary, in the group standings. Italy next play on Tuesday 7 June at 20h45 CEST in Cesena against group leaders Hungary.
