Following Italy and France, Turkey booked their place in Euro 2024’s Round of 16 on Wednesday, seeing another Bianconeri player advance in the competition.

This time it was the turn of Kenan Yildiz to go through to the knockout rounds, sealed with a 2-1 win for Turkey over Czechia on the final matchday of group matches. They join Portugal (group winners) and Georgia (third) in progressing from Group F.

Kenan played 75 minutes, starting, and now he’s set to feature in the knockout rounds of a European Championship for the first time in his career.

The game itself was action-packed. Czechia went down to 10 players inside 20 minutes as Antonin Barak was sent off for two bookable offences. Turkey then took a second-half lead through Hakan Calhanoglu. The Czechs battled back to level with Tomas Soucek netting, but a late winer from Cenk Tosun ended their slim hopes of winning and advancing, sealing Turkey’s progression as Group F runners-up.
