10 December 2022
Roma-Juventus is the stand-out fixture of Matchday 12 of the Women's Serie A. On Sunday 11 December, kick-off at 14.30, the first team in the table host the defending champions, currently in second place. Traditionally the trip to the capital to face the Giallorosse has been positive for Juventus Women, with four wins from as many matches.
ENIOLA'S DAY
The first Roma-Juventus was played on 21 October 2018 at the Tre Fontane stadium. It proved to be a big day for Eniola Aluko, not content only with three goals of her own.
In the first half she contributed to the opening goal with an assist for Benedetta Glionna. Halfway through the second half she took control of the proceedings and fired home a fantastic hat-trick to round off the final score: Roma 0-4 Juventus.
FOUR MORE IN ROME
Four more goals arrived the following season and the pattern of the victory was absolutely identical to the previous year's. The first half ended with Juve ahead for them to then go wild after the interval. The only difference being that this time the goals were equally shared. In chronological order the scorers were Maria Alves. Cristiana Girelli, Martina Rosucci and Arianna Caruso.
TURNING 21
Roma-Juventus of 2020-21 was a turning point in the showdown between the two teams. Another victory but by the narrowest of margins, thanks to a goal by Barbara Bonansea in the seventh minute of the second half. The goal itself was worthy of note, a volley after Maria Alves's cross. Three important points for what was the twenty-first victory in the league in as many games.
DOWN BUT NOT OUT
Juventus had never gone behind at the Stadio Tre Fontane until last season. The hosts took the lead through a goal by Lucia Di Giglielmo. But the Lady had the skill and the wherewithal to mount a comeback. Martina Rosucci equalised before Andrea Staskova, just three minutes from time, completed the turnaround for yet another capital success.
