There has been a constant in the history of Juve-Atalanta: those players who make the difference are those that sport the French colours on their national team jersey.

DAVID TREZEGUET

The principle gladiator of the match. During the matches in Turin, no one has scored as many goals as David Trezeguet, who has collected five goals in three matches. The initial high was when the French bomber met the Nerazzurri for the first time, where six minutes were enough to hit the target. The year after, the Bianconeri won 3-0 with a brace from 'Trezegol' after Tacchinardi opened the scoring. In fact, three years later, Davide decided the home match, where he scored in the first half-half in Fabio Capello’s first home game in charge.

MICHEL PLATINI

Trezeguet’s goals were hosted at the Delle Alpi, but at the Stadio Comunale, another French figure emerged in Michel Platini. Three months after his European triumph in the national team, Le Roi scored a goal against Atalanta. Two sublime goals, one per foot, and two hits that only he can draw an unattainable grace.

DIDIER DESCHAMPS

After Platini, there was Didier. A captain with France during the 1998 World Cup, who will receive the baton from Platini, two years before that historic appointment he headed the goal that was worth the victory over Atalanta. A perfect insertion, with the right timing, to surprise Ferron.

ZINEDINE ZIDANE

With France, he won the World Cup against Brazil, scoring two goals with his head. A few months before one of the biggest exploits of his career, Zinedine Zidane faced Atalanta and found the back of the net following a deflection in the area. He then sparked the encore, this time with a great hit from outside of the box that sailed past the hands of Fontana.

BLAISE MATUIDI

Matuidi is the most recent Frenchman to hit past the Bergamaschi. In the that saw him dubbed a World Cup champion with Didier Deschamps’ France, Blaise scored a goal to secure a 2-0 scoreline against Atalanta, courtesy of an assist from Higuain. A left-footed hit in the penalty area, that rattles the back of the net.
