The history of Juventus includes the history of the many great legends who have worn the captain's armband. Many of them are, naturally, Italian, with the likes of Del Piero, Conte, Vialli, Baggio, Scirea, Pessotto and Boniperti coming to mind.

There are also many players from abroad who have made – and continue to make - history by wearing the armband which, more than many other symbols, certifies belonging, leadership and an example on the pitch.

Sunday was the first match as captain for Frenchman Adrien Rabiot, who commented on the evening, filled with many emotions, and not just because of the armband.

I am happy to have worn the armband, I love this Club and its history, it is the fifth year that I'm here, for me it is an honour.

Let's not forget that this is a particular year, from this point of view: the captain is in fact Danilo, the deputies being Adrien and Alex Sandro, with both Brazilian leaders currently out injured and as a result, were absent on Sunday at San Siro.

Yet all three are true leaders both on and off the pitch, three champions, all with Juventus DNA.

Throughout history, there have been many other non-Italian footballers who have worn the armband: from Johann Friedric Bollinger, our swiss full-back who wore the armband in the very distant 1905/1906 season and Luisito Monti (who however was Argentine by birth, but became a naturalised Italian and World Champion with the Azzurri in 1934) to, indeed, Rabiot.
