Juventus is aware of the responsibilities and the influence of its actions on the environment and therefore the club has made a commitment to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible.
As pioneers in the world of football, we have already decreased our carbon footprint over the last eight years and have committed to further reducing it going forward, while reporting our actions transparently.
In September 2020, Juventus joined two key United Nations climate-change initiatives, becoming the first Italian football club – and the 150th signee – of the NFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework, and the first Italian club to join the Climate Neutral Now Pledge.
In so doing, we have undertaken both to improve our carbon footprint and to make it public. Specifically, this means measuring the source of emissions (especially Scope 3 emissions) more accurately, planning to reduce the impact as much as possible, and offsetting the rest.
Starting from the 2019/20 season we began publishing our carbon footprint (Scope 1 & Scope 2) in accordance with GHG Protocol standards, with the data being reviewed by a third party.
Today we can announce that we have reached a zero-emission rate by purchasing Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) from the United Nations' Carbon Offset Platform. Furthermore, we are committed to maintaining this level in the coming years.
The United Nations' CERs are carbon credits generated by environmentally friendly projects that have been verified by the UN based on rules approved on an inter-governmental level with international supervision, ensuring a high level of compensation credibility.
In addition, from this season we have joined forces with One Tree Planted: for every goal scored by the men's first team we will plant 200 trees. A commitment that continues, and which so far has made it possible to achieve this result:
