While many may spend the Easter holiday period celebrating with family and friends, it’s business as usual in Serie A, with a packed weekend of fixtures in the Italian top-flight.

Juventus travel to Parma in an away fixture on Easter Monday, 21 April in a match-up kicking off at 20:45 CEST. Therefore, we have decided to dig out from recent memory some of the most memorable results earned around this festive period. Top goals, victories against historic rivals, and matches that marked an entire season, were all played out over Easter.

Juventus fans remember one such fixture, above all, with great joy. On 7 April 2012, the Bianconeri were preparing for a very important match, away to Palermo. AC Milan, level on points with the Bianconeri and playing on the same day in the afternoon, were defeated 2-1 at home by Fiorentina. If Juventus were to win, it would mean overtaking them at the top of the table! Antonio Conte's men did not disappoint, and won 2-0 thanks to second-half goals from Leonardo Bonucci and Fabio Quagliarella. It was thus a very happy Easter, and a prelude to the conquest of a special Scudetto that would be celebrated a few weeks later.

But the surprises do not end there. Also around Easter, in recent years, the championship calendar has on several occasions pitted Juventus against their historical rival: Inter. And on many occasions, things have definitely gone right for the Old Lady: in 1994, 2001, 2008 and 2013, for example.

A Derby della Mole was also played on this holiday. Almost twenty years ago, on 6 April 1996 at the Stadio Delle Alpi, Torino and Juventus crossed paths in the last Easter Derby. Despite conceding first, the men then coached by Marcello Lippi came back against the Granata thanks to an own goal by Sogliano and a Gianluca Vialli winner.

Finally, the Easter period was an especially festive holiday for a certain Bianconero: Alessandro Del Piero. The former Juve number ten scored his last brace for Juventus on this holiday. It was 23 April 2011, at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin: Juventus-Catania ended 2-2. Del Piero also holds another ‘Easter’ record: he is the Bianconeri player to have scored the most goals in this round of matches since the three points per match era began: no fewer than eight goals. One of hundreds of records broken by the former Juventus captain.
