Juventus Football Club today joins the world of Italian football in mourning the loss of Cesare Maldini.
After a trophy-laden career as a player, Maldini lent his knowledge and expertise to the Azzurri cause, first as Enzo Bearzot’s assistant during the country’s 1982 World Cup triumph in Spain, then as coach of the country’s Under 21s from 1986 until 1996.
He then made the step up to coach the Italian senior side, whom he guided to a quarter-final place in the 1998 World Cup in France.
Juventus wishes to express its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
