It was a disappointing afternoon for Juventus Women, who dominated their contest with Sassuolo for long spells but saw Cecilia Salvai's splendid opener cancelled out by Manuela Sciabica in stoppage time.
The home side got off to a positive start and created openings in the early going. Lineth Beerensteyn went close on two occasions, first firing just off target before forcing the visiting keeper into a smart save on 15 minutes.
Julia Grosso meanwhile sent a trio of warning strikes towards goal but failed to test Isabella Kresche. The Austrian stopper was however called into action later in the first half when Lisa Boattin found Arianna Caruso in a great position. She then saved a well-struck free kick from Valentina Cernoia on 42 minutes.
Juventus' dominance continued into the second period and a deserved breakthrough arrived on 52 minutes, when Salvai worked some space before firing a delightful left-foot shot into the goal to crown a brilliant solo effort. Beerensteyn almost made it two just moments later, seeing her effort bounce back off the woodwork.
With the deadlock broken, however, it was time for Sassuolo to push forward, which made for an entertaining spectacle with chances at both ends. Sciabica sent a dangerous header towards Pauline Peyraud Magnin's goal on 72 minutes, but the Juve keeper responded with an impressive stop. Meanwhile Beerensteyn and Caruso were among those to put Kresche under pressure once again.
The hammer blow came after the 90-minute mark and the home side were unable to respond to Sciabica's late equaliser, leaving them to rue two points dropped.
