Juventus had never been to Crotone's Stadio Ezio Scida for a Serie A match before so naturally excitement was high in Calabria ahead of kick-off.
With supporters packing in to the tiny, atmospheric stadium - overlooked by many in the hospital next door - the Italian champions put on a show, scoring twice in the second half to see off a combative Crotone outfit.
This midweek game in hand presented the Bianconeri with the chance to restore their seven-point advantage over Roma and they did so comfortably in the end thanks to strikes from Mario Mandzukic and Gonzalo Higuain.
A resolute home rearguard kept the scores level until the break before Mandzukic squeezed in the night's opening goal on the hour mark following Kwadwo Asamoah's header.
The points were wrapped up 15 minutes later as Tomas Rincon's deft through pass split the Crotone defence in half for Higuain to round the goalkeeper and tap into an empty net and continue his superb scoring form.
Seven clear of Roma, nine clear of Napoli. A satisfying evening's work in the south of Italy.
