Lyon Feminin’s experienced proved too strong for Juventus Women as they claimed a 3-0 win on Saturday evening in the Trophèe Veolia.

The game was even for the opening 28 minutes, with neither side testing the goalkeepers. However, Lyon took advantage of two corners in the space of three minutes and took hold of a two-goal lead when Renard and Buchanan both nodded home corners to head into the break with the advantage.

Bacic and Staskova were brought on at the start of the second half in place of Giuliani and Rosucci. The Croatian was called into action when she made a save on Bronze’s cross-cum-shot, while Cernoia’s shot sailed out wide at the far post. Lyon were pilling on the pressure, but they couldn’t break through Bacic, who pulled off a crucial double save to deny Parris and then Majri from close range, before pulling off another great save to de Le Sommer. Malard made it 3-0 in the 79th minute, when she pounced on a rebounded ball and put it into the back of the net. Juve went in search of a consolation goal, but it didn’t arrive, putting to an end their time in the Trophèe Veolia.

I think we showed a lot today, and it was hard, we conceded two goals on corners. We stood up today, and we worked really hard. They were two good games for us before starting the season."
