For 34 years, Giampiero Boniperti, who turns 89 today, led Juventus Football Club with passion, pride and spirit: 15 (1946-61) as a player and 19 (1971-90) as president.
Boniperti joined the Bianconeri at the tender age of 18, but he wasted no time at all in establishing his legendary status: he finished the following year as top scorer with 20 goals.
This was just the start of an exceptional career in which he would eventually make a total of 459 appearances, scoring 179 times and lifting five Scudetto titles and two Coppa Italia crowns.
During his time as president, Juve conquered nine further Italian championships and every single UEFA competition, as well as the Intercontinental Cup. From the pitch to the boardroom, Boniperti’s winning mentality brought quite brilliant results.
As one of only two honorary presidents at Juventus alongside Franzo Grande Stevens, Boniperti’s bond to the Bianconeri knows no end and he remains a true symbol of the club.
On the day of his 89th birthday, all associated with Juventus would like to wish Giampiero many happy returns.
