Claudio Marchisio praised the Bianconeri for coming away from Italy’s capital with a positive result but says they will ultimately be dissatisfied at having dropped two points following this evening’s 1-1 draw with 10-man Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 29-year-old put in a great shift at the heart of the Juventus midfield as the reigning champions remained nine points ahead of their closest challengers at the culmination of tonight’s closely-fought contest.

Speaking to SKY Italia, he began: “We secured an important result in Roma’s own backyard. It’s not easy to come away from here, at the home of Serie A’s second-placed side, with our nine-point advantage still intact. Nevertheless, there’s regret at leaving with a draw.

“We started well and were able to break the deadlock. We created chances when we had numerical supremacy but were unable to put the game to bed.”

Marchisio, who was filling in for the absent Andrea Pirlo, performed adeptly in the Maestro's position in front of the Bianconeri backline but was quick to shoot down any suggestion that the two players could be compared.

He concluded: “They’re comparisons that can’t be made between two completely different players. We know what Andrea offers us.

"Personally speaking, I have undergone an important evolution in a role which I enjoy playing, and with the attributes and qualities I possess, I’ll try and help the team out.”
