In the city of Brotherly Love, Juventus came out firing on all clyinders in the 2018 International Champions Cup opener defeating Bayern Munich 2-0 on a double from 21-year-old Andrea Favilli.
Playing in a hard rainstorm it was a quick start for the Bianconeri as just three minutes into the match Andrea Favilli tested goalkeeper Sven Ulreich who tipped his shot over the bar.
In his Bianconeri debut, goalkeeper Mattia Perin would be called into action on multiple occasions but was up to the task stopping shots from Serge Gnabry and Marcel Zylla through the first half.
Just after the half-hour mark Claudio Marchisio pounced on a Bayern error at the back intercepting a clearance from Ulreich, finding Favilli free in the middle. The 21-year-old made no mistake slotting home to open the 2018 pre-season account.
Less than ten minutes later in the 40th minute, Favilli latched on to a long ball out of the back from Alex Sandro and cooly finished to Ulreich’s right, doubling the Bianconeri advantage.
In the second half, Perin was called on again in the 58th minute coming off his line to deny substitute Kwasi Okyere Wriedt with Jeong Woo-Yeong firing the rebound wide.
After a round of substitutions, the Bianconeri saw off the last half-hour to seal the 2-0 win. Up next on the 2018 Summer Tour presented by Jeep is a matchup with Portugese side Benfica at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey set for 13.00 EDT on Saturday.
