Fresh from scoring Juventus’ winning goal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday evening, Alvaro Morata could scarcely hide his delight at helping to clinch three points which put his side within touching distance of an historic fifth successive Serie A title.
“It’s always a great feeling to score in these colours,” opened the Spaniard. “Now we’re focused on sewing up the Scudetto. We’ve claimed three points on a difficult ground. Fiorentina showed what a great side they are, but we too demonstrated just how difficult we are to beat when we play this way until the very end.”
Despite tapping home the winner in Florence, Morata could not avoid admitting that Gigi Buffon’s stunning penalty save moments later had proved just as, if not more, decisive on the night.
He concluded: “We ultimately won thanks to a save from a player who, when you see things like that, just can’t be human!”
