There have been 11 official matches between Juventus and Barcelona in European competition, the Bianconeri have five wins, two draws and two defeats.
In the Champions League alone, Juventus and Barcelona have met seven times, and they both share two wins a-piece, and in matches played in Catalonia, the record is even at one win, one draw, and one loss.
And aside from the Champions League, there have been five other European matches that Juve have faced Barcelona at the Camp Nou, in addition to the 2005 Gamper Trophy in pre-season that finished 2-2.
1970: FAIRS CUP
On 20 October 1970, in the last 16 of the Fairs Cup, Helmut Haller and Roberto Bettega struck to give Juventus a 2-1 win over the Blaugrana. The Bianconeri would go on to seal the tie winning by the same scoreline in Turin.
1986 & 1991: WINS FOR BARCELONA
In the 1985/86 Champions League quarter-finals, Juventus were defeated 1-0 in the Camp Nou, with a goal from Julio Alberto in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, the Bianconeri couldn’t turn things around in Turin as they were held to a 1-1 draw.
When the two sides met in the semi-finals of the 1990/91 Cup Winners’ Cup, the Bianconeri went in front thanks to Pierluigi Casiraghi, but were then pegged back by two goals from Hristo Stoichkov and a goal by Goikoetxea. In the return leg, a Roberto Baggio strike wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit.
2003: NEDVED & ZALAYETA!
Juventus went into the 2002/03 Champions League quarter-final at the Camp Nou with the aggregate score at 1-1, after drawing in Turin.
In the 53rd minute, Pavel Nedved went on a dazzling run and hit a sharp shot that left Roberto Bonano rooted to the spot in the Barcelona goal to put Juve in front. However, soon after Xavi also hit an unstoppable strike to beat Gianluigi Buffon and level the tie again at 1-1.
Before the game could reach extra-time, there would be another moment of drama, as Edgar Davids received his second yellow card of the night to leave the Bianconeri down to 10 men.
The team rallied, and in the 114th minute of extra-time, a cross from Alessandro Birindelli was pounced upon by Marcelo Zalayeta to make it 2-1 and send Juventus through to the semi-finals.
2017: AN AMAZING NIGHT
After an incredible turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16, Barcelona were heading into their Champions League quarter-final against Juventus with optimism and enthusiasm. However, it proved to be a very different story, as a brace from Paulo Dybala and a thumping header from Giorgio Chiellini gave Juventus a 3-0 lead heading into their game at the Camp Nou.
Wary of Barca’s impossible comeback in the previous leg, the Bianconeri demonstrated an amazing level of grit and determination to protect their lead and give zero space to Lionel Messi and co. The final score finished 0-0 and Juventus were in the semi-finals.
