In the background of Juventus-Bologna there are many players who have written important pages in the history of both clubs. Ahead of Sunday night's return to action, we take a look at six of these players:
ROBERTO BAGGIO
Beginning with Roberto Baggio, who spent five years in the Black and White of Juventus and a high profile season in the Rossoblu of Bologna in 1997-98. In this article's lead picture, we can see the number 8, Giancarlo Marocchi watching Il Divin Codino take a free-kick with the number 8 - who himself won everything in Turin after arriving from Bologna before return to end his career there.
Baggio had a successful solitary season in Emilia-Romagna, leading Bologna to an eighth-place finish and scoring 23 goals in 33 games.
ANTONIO CABRINI
Having spent basically a lifetime at Juve: 13 years in which he went from being a young man of high hopes to establishing himself as the best left-back in the world at the time. In 1989, the World Cup winner went to Bologna, where he spent two seasons. When he made his return to the Stadio Communale, he received a hero's welcome as part of the Bianconeri family.
MARK IULIANO
Interestingly, Mark Iuliano's preferred side to score against was in fact Bologna, having scored three goals in two-consecutive seasons against the Rossoblu from 2002 to 2004, (two at the Stadio Delle Alpi, one at Renato Dall'Ara). The defender spent one year in Bologna in Serie B, on-loan from Salernitana in 1992-93.
MARCELO ZALAYETA
In the 2004-05 season, Marcelo Zalayeta was one of the two goalscorers in the Bianconeri's 2-1 win. The Uruguayan striker made a total of 160 appearances in over a decade in which he arrived in Turin and after seeing some loan spells away from the club. In 2009, Zalayeta spent a season on loan at Bologna from Napoli, where he scored four goals in 29 league games.
MARCO DI VAIO
Marco Di Vaio played in the very first Juventus-Bologna at Allianz Stadium. The current sporting director of the Bolognese club spent the final part of his Italian career in Emilia-Romagna, before closing it completely in Canada. At Juve he played for two years in Marcello Lippi's team from 2002 to 2004, achieving double figures in both seasons.
EMANUELE GIACCHERINI
Providing the assist, in the above photo for Fabio Quagliarella in 2012-13's Juve-Bologna, Emanuele Giaccherini spent two seasons at Juventus from 2011-2013, before finding himself at Bologna in 2015-16 when spending a season on loan from Sunderland.
