25 August 2022
Juventus next take to the field on Saturday 27 August at the Allianz Stadium. Opponents for the match at 18h30 CEST are joint league leaders Roma. Take a look at how the club has moved in the transfer market and how the team has performed on the pitch.
JOSE AT THE HELM
With six draws in Serie A Matchday 2 only three teams maintained their 100% record at the start of the season - Roma are one those select teams.
The Giallorossi's six points have come in the most minimal fashion, with 1-0 victories over Salernitana and Cremonese. José Mourinho has taken a firm hold of the team, as shown by the inaugural UEFA Conference League triumph, and in his second season in charge of the club from the capital, his imprint is evident.
SUMMER SIGNINGS
The team was strengthened in the summer with the arrival of experienced players. Nemanja Matić has teamed up with Mourinho for the third time, while the defence was bolstered with the signing of Turkey international Mehmet Zeki Çelik and Dutch wingback Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Netherlands international suffered a leg break in training last week, which will leave him sidelined for the club until 2023. Another player out injured, but for a much shorter period, is Nicolò Zaniolo, after the 23-year-old dislocated his shoulder in the victory on Monday over Cremonese.
Another player that signed for the Giallorossi in the summer was a certain Paolo Dybala. On Saturday, La Joya returns to the ground that was his home for seven seasons. An emotional moment after the tears shed at his final home match in the black and white stripes on May 16, against now city rivals Lazio.
PLAYER FOCUS
- Paulo Dybala has been involved in more sequences of play that have resulted in a shot, with 19, than any other player so far this season - however, none of these resulted in a goal.
- Tammy Abraham, who scored in the most recent league match against Juventus, can match Trevor Francis (18) with a mark as the third-highest scoring English player in Serie A.
- Lorenzo Pellegrini, who scored and served assists in the last match against Juventus in the league, has participated in a total of 50 Serie A goals since the 2017/18 season (22 goals and 28 assists) - over the same time period only former Giallorossi Edin Dzeko boasts a better performance for the club.
TEAM FOCUS
- No team has attempted more conclusions than Roma (47 like Fiorentina and Napoli) in these first two days and with 17 efforts no team has hit the target more often than the Giallorossi so far.
- With a 62% success rate, Roma is the team with the highest percentage of duels won in the first two days of this championship.
- Roma can win each of the first three games in a Serie A season for two championships in a row for the second time in its history: the first came in 2013/14 - 2014/15, with Rudi Garcia at the helm.
- On the back of two 1-0 wins, José Mourinho's Roma can become the second team in Serie A history with three wins out of three with this score in the first three games of the season, previously achieved only by Fiorentina in 1969/70.
