Table-toppers Inter Milan host Juventus in Sunday's highly-anticipated Serie A encounter at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, in a clash pitting two of the country's powerhouses against each other.
Both teams have been in fine form of late, with a mouth-watering battle expected at San Siro.
Ahead of the 20:45 CET kick-off, here's ten things to know about the Nerazzurri.
- Inter have won only one of their last 13 matches in the second round against Juventus in Serie A (1D, 11L), a 1-0 win at the Allianz Stadium on 3 April 2022.
- Inter have achieved at least 17 wins and collected at least 54 points in the first 21 games of the season for just the second time in their history in Serie A, the only precedent coming in 2006/07 (18 wins and 57 points with Roberto Mancini on the bench).
- In 2024, Inter won each of the five matches played considering all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in the last three: in general, the Nerazzurri have not won the first six matches played in a single calendar year since 2007, again with Roberto Mancini on the bench.
- Inter have conceded only 10 goals in this championship, only once in their history in Serie A had the Nerazzurri club conceded so few goals after 21 matches: in 1988/89 with Giovanni Trapattoni as coach.
- Inter - having already scored in each of the first 21 matches played in this Serie A campaign - could become only the second team to score at least one goal in the first 22 matches played in a single top-flight season after Juventus (who managed this on four occasions, in 1957/58, in 2005/06, in 2013/14 and in 2018/19).
- Inter have scored nine penalties out of nine, a record in this championship - in the last 20 Serie A seasons (since 2004/05) only once have the Nerazzurri scored more goals from 11 meters: in 2019/20 (10).
- Lautaro Martìnez has scored 19 goals in 19 appearances this Serie A season: the Argentine could become the third player to score at least 20 goals for three seasons in a row in Serie A in the history of Inter, after Giuseppe Meazza (five - since 1929/30 to 1933/34) and Stefano Nyers (four - from 1948/49 to 1951/52).
- Hakan Çalhanoglu has scored nine goals in this championship, the Turk has never scored 10 goals in a single Serie A season (also nine in 2019/20 with Milan).
- Federico Dimarco is the defender who has been involved in the most goals (eight) in this tournament (three goals and five assists), the Italian full-back has never done better in a Serie A season (eight also in 2020/21 with Hellas Verona – five goals and three winning passes in that case).
- Yann Sommer has recorded 13 clean sheets this Serie A, a record for a goalkeeper in the top five European leagues 2023/24 – only once in his career has the Swiss goalkeeper kept more clean sheets in a season in the big-5 leagues Europeans: 15 in 2014/15.
